We dropped in on his cousin, Wanda. Grandpa rang her doorbell and asked if she could spare some water for a stranger. She almost didnt open the door until he took off his hat. Then as grandma says, "she was tickled to death to see him." She reminded mom and I of Grandma Dorothy. They were the nicest people. Grandpa and her, of course had to tell the story of him peeing on her head. lovely. Her husband lost three of his fingers in a cotton gin, which reminded me of Grandpa Glee.
We stopped in along the pecos river and we all peed out in the open. hahaha. That sounds weird but we couldnt see each other! I peed off of the cliff and i tried to snap a picture of grandma and mom trying to pee. This scared grandma and she fell into dad's truck. So all day long she has been saying that I PUSHED HER into the truck. If she tells you that story when we get home, and we all know she will, don't believe it!
White Sands just kind of happened upon us. The last time we went, I remember it being really hot and, although fun, kind of miserable. Tonight it was wonderful! It was about 75 degrees and the sand was cold on your feet. We took lots of pretty pictures and had a picnic.
The route was changed a little. We decided to drive onto to las cruces instead of Albuquerque. We got in late and are staying in an extra sketchy hotel. Tomorrow we plan to drive to tuscan and down to tombstone. Apparently tombstone is where they filmed a lot of westerns so dad will especially like that. He thinks he is John Wayne reincarnated.
